Gas Barbecue for the boat

I'm having a bit of a domestic argument on this one. We've had a lot of fun from a £10 charcoal barbie for several years and I now want to try the easier stowage of a small gas cylinder. The Magna Gaz barbie comes in both charcoal and gas versions so you can choose between having smoke and aroma to season the grill, or the easy cleaning convenience of the gas model. From May to September we normally manage to eat every meal in the cockpit and our charcoal barbecue has been used on canal banks and beaches, but it's not really suitable for on-board use. The Magna has a mount for pushpit, stanchion and shore, so should be safe to use either at anchor or in a marina. It's well designed, with nice touches like holes in the leg mounts accepting the thread of the legs - avoiding the need for a locking nut. It can also be used as a mini oven and cooking kettle. The Magna Gaz comes at £150 for gas and £83 for charcoal. The gas regulator and blue canvas cover/carrying bag are standard but the stanchion, shore and deck mounts are extra. |
